How do I transfer dog or cat license tag to a new owner?

To transfer a dog’s or cat's license tag to a new owner you will need to provide the following documentation:
- Both new and old owners must appear in person at the Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center
- A notarized transfer of ownership letter from current owner and
- Copies of each person’s driver's license or valid State photo ID
To update the account:
- If owner has died and close relative (father, daughter, mother, son) wants to transfer ownership, advise them of the age requirement (18) and
- A copy of the person’s death certificate along with ID will be required.
