County offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Learn about the County services affected, find events to honor Dr. King's legacy and discover ways to get involved in your community.
Services
- Miami-Dade County offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20
- Transportation and Public Works (Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover) will operate on a regular weekday schedule
- Miami‑Dade Libraries will be closed Monday, Jan. 20
- Miami-Dade County Solid Waste will not collect garbage or bulk trash on Monday, Jan. 20; service will resume on your following scheduled pickup day. Curbside recycling collection service will take place as scheduled

Participate in a community beautification project that includes landscaping and stree cleaning. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade in Liberty City is a time-honored event that brings together the community to celebrate Dr. King's contributions to civil rights and social justice. Scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, with the planned 2.5 hr. Liberty City route running from NW 54th St. and 7th Ave. to 32nd Ave., the parade follows 10 miles of sacred ground that Dr. King once traveled during his frequent engagements in Miami. - MLK Family Festival - Monday, Jan. 20
Along with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Dept., from noon to 5 p.m. at the MLK Memorial Park at 6000 NW 32nd Ct., corporations, community and civic groups will collaborate to produce cultural programs, entertainment performances, and culinary experiences--all designed to honor, promote, unify and preserve our local, vibrant African and Caribbean heritage. The Soundtrack of Our Lives will showcase a variety of music genres: R&B, Soul, Jazz, Reggae, Rap, Salsa, Merengue, Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, Haitian Compas and more! Live music, dance, and theater will be performed on the Cultural stage with artworks exhibited throughout the venue. - The many faces of Dr. King, Sunday, Jan. 26
