Learn about Miami-Dade County’s new Impervious Surface Ordinance

Join Miami-Dade County’s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, Division of Environmental Resources Management (RER-DERM), for a webinar on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, focused on the technical requirements of the Impervious Surface Ordinance for industry stakeholders.
On Sept. 4, 2024, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved the Impervious Surface Ordinance to enhance resilience, improve water quality, and reduce future risks of flooding for Miami-Dade County. The Ordinance amended Chapter 24, Chapter 33, and Chapter 8CC of the Code of Miami-Dade County.
This webinar session will cover the following topics related to the Impervious Surface Ordinance:
- Changes to Chapter 24, Miami-Dade County Code of Ordinances
- Building Permits & Impervious Surface (Non-Structural) Applications – Review and Process
- Ordinance standards and requirements
- Updating stormwater retention and water quality requirements for new developments, redevelopments, and substantial improvements.
- Establishing a permit for non-structural surface improvements on individual single-family and duplex properties.
- Codifying existing policies related to stormwater design requirements.
- Revising definitions and cross-references.
- Revising provisions related to the impact of runoff and discharges on surface water.
- Certification and re-certification requirements for the public road rights-of-way stormwater.
- A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations
