Public housing programs are designed to support individuals and families in need of rental assistance, with eligibility determined by factors such as income, family size, and citizenship status. PHCD works in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to administer these programs, ensuring fair and equitable access to housing for all residents.
Rent is based on anticipated gross income, with deductions available for dependents and certain allowances. Tenants can remain in public housing as long as they comply with lease agreements, and annual income reviews are conducted to determine continued eligibility.
“We encourage all eligible individuals to apply for this vital opportunity,” said PHCD Director Alex R. Ballina. “Securing affordable housing can be a turning point for many families, and we remain committed to providing support through every step of the application process.”
