Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez Marks First 100 Days in Office with Results for District 5
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez is celebrating her first 100 days in office, highlighting measurable results, strong community engagement, and a continued commitment to affordability, infrastructure, and quality of life across District 5.
Since taking office, Commissioner Lopez has prioritized accessibility and action, attending and engaging in more than 57 community events to connect directly with residents, businesses, and community partners throughout Miami and Miami Beach.
In her first 100 days, Commissioner Lopez has delivered:
- $61,620+ invested into the community and small businesses
- 14+ road and pedestrian improvement projects completed
- 3,350+ seniors and families supported through meal and food distributions
“These first 100 days have been about listening and delivering,” said Commissioner Lopez. “From improving our roads and pedestrian safety, to supporting seniors and families, to strengthening small businesses, my team and I have remained focused on results. We are committed to collaborating with our municipal partners and community stakeholders to ensure County government works for everyone in District 5.”
Commissioner Lopez has also stepped into leadership roles across key boards and committees that directly impact housing, economic growth, infrastructure, and public safety.
She currently serves on:
- Board of County Commissioners Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee, Co-Chair
- Board of County Commissioners Housing Committee, Vice Chair
- Board of County Commissioners Intergovernmental & Economic Impact Committee, Member
- Board of County Commissioners Safety & Health Committee, Member
- Florida Association of Counties, Member of the Board of Directors
- Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Vice Chair of the Board of Directors
- Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency (RDA), Board Member
- Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), Member
Through these appointments, Commissioner Lopez is advancing policies that promote housing affordability, economic opportunity, infrastructure modernization, and responsible governance.
Over the past 100 days, Commissioner Lopez has also met with stakeholders, County departments, Commissioners in the City of Miami and the City of Miami Beach, nonprofit organizations, business owners, and neighborhood associations to ensure coordinated solutions for District 5.
Her work has focused on:
- Protecting taxpayers
- Strengthening small businesses
- Advocating for expanding housing options and affordability
- Investing in seniors, children, and families
- Improving pedestrian and roadway safety
- Supporting houses of worship
“Affordability remains one of the greatest challenges facing our community,” Commissioner Lopez added. “My focus is on smart solutions that protect taxpayers while expanding opportunity. We must ensure our seniors can age with dignity, our families can thrive, and our neighborhoods remain strong and safe.”
As she continues her term, Commissioner Lopez remains committed to collaboration, transparency, and delivering measurable results for District 5. “My office doors are open,” she said. “The first 100 days were just the beginning. We will continue working every day to improve quality of life, strengthen our economy, and ensure District 5 remains a safe and vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family.”
