New SW 168th Street Parking Garage opens along the South Dade TransitWay to support Metro Express BRT Service
The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is excited to announce the opening of the new SW 168th Street Parking Garage along the South Dade TransitWay. The four-level garage provides more than 640 parking spaces with inclusive and convenient parking for all commuters, supporting a smooth and stress-free commute.
Located at SW 168 Street and SW 97 Avenue, the garage offers convenient access and a seamless connection to the Metro Express Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service and nearby local bus routes. The facility includes dedicated ADA, stroller, veteran, and motorcycle spaces, as well as a real-time parking space availability system to help riders quickly locate open spaces.
Amenities at the garage include public restrooms, elevators, bicycle parking, electric-vehicle charging stations, CCTV cameras throughout the premises, and 24-hour security. Riders connecting to bus services will also have access to real-time arrival displays and free Wi-Fi on the platforms.
“This new parking facility strengthens and supports access to the South Dade TransitWay and the Metro Express BRT service, making it easier for residents to connect to reliable transit. Investments like this make transit more accessible and help create a stronger, more connected transportation network for our community,” said DTPW Director and CEO, Stacy Miller.
The new garage was built to complement the new, state-of-the-art Metro Express Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service that recently launched in October 2025 along the South Dade TransitWay. As an integral component of the broader transportation infrastructure project, this facility is designed to serve as a key multimodal transit hub by providing essential services for transit patrons – convenient and covered parking with direct access to the ground-level BRT station platform as well as the Local Service platform.
