Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez announces the 2026 Mom & Pop Small Business Grant in District 5

Small business owners throughout Miami-Dade County’s District 5 are invited to apply for Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez's 2026 Mom & Pop Small Business Grant Program. The program provides eligible businesses with grants of up to $1,500 to assist with qualifying business expenses, including equipment purchases, inventory, marketing, professional services, renovations, and more.

Applications will be accepted from Tuesday, June 23, 2026, through Friday, July 10, 2026, at 4 PM.

Since taking office, Commissioner Lopez has made supporting local businesses a priority, regularly visiting neighborhood establishments throughout District 5 to hear directly from owners about their successes, challenges, and contributions to the community. "One of the greatest joys of serving as County Commissioner has been getting to know the small business owners who make District 5 such a vibrant place to live, work, and visit," said Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez. "I have heard firsthand about the long hours, sacrifices, and challenges that come with running a small business, especially as rising costs and affordability concerns continue to impact our community. This grant program is one way we can provide meaningful support to the entrepreneurs who are the backbone of our neighborhoods and local economy."

Applications are available online at miamidade.gov/district05 and may also be picked up in person at either of Commissioner Lopez's district offices:

Miami Beach District Office
1700 Convention Center Drive, 1st Floor, Miami Beach, FL 33139
Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 AM to 12 PM

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Have been in operation for at least one year
• Be a for-profit business (home-based businesses are eligible)
• Have a physical business address (P.O. Boxes and UPS boxes are not accepted)
• Have current County, City, and State registrations
• Submit only one application per business

To assist business owners with the application process, Commissioner Lopez's office will host two free informational workshops:

Completed applications must be submitted in person in a sealed envelope by Friday, July 10, 2026, at 4 PM to one of the District 5 offices listed above.

Commissioner Lopez encourages all eligible District 5 business owners to apply. "Small businesses create jobs, strengthen our commercial corridors, and help define the character of our neighborhoods," Lopez added. "I encourage every eligible business owner to take advantage of this opportunity and apply."
