The Countywide Transportation Master Plan (CTMP) was developed by Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) as per a directive from the Board of County Commissioners (Resolution R-138-22). The CTMP, which is updated on an annual basis, identifies capital investment projects for all modes, including transit, pedestrian, bicycle, roadways, and freight to be completed throughout Miami-Dade County in the next 20 years.
The CTMP is aligned with DTPW’s goals to deliver a more efficient, connected, safe and reliable transportation system for Miami-Dade County. Plans and execution of the CTMP also align and maintain consistency with existing strategic plans and initiatives from Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the Board of County Commissioners and DTPW.
The Countywide Transportation Master Plan has grouped the 34 municipalities and unincorporated Miami-Dade County into planning areas as determined by their geographical location within Miami-Dade County. The six transportation planning areas and the municipalities included in each are detailed below:
Beach Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbour Islands, Indian Creek Village, North Bay Village, Surfside, North Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, and Aventura
Central Business District (CBD) Key Biscayne and Miami
Central Coral Gables, West Miami, Virginia Gardens, Miami Springs, and South Miami
North Biscayne Park, El Portal, Miami Gardens, Miami Shores, North Miami, and Opa-Locka
Northwest Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Miami Lakes, and Sweetwater
South Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, Homestead, and Florida City
Our Vision: Create an integrated multimodal capital and transit service investment plan that advances transportation infrastructure improvements in Miami-Dade County to provide a more efficient, connected, safe and clean transportation system.
Our Goals:
Identify multimodal investments for the next 20 years
Harmonize DTPW multimodal project investments with future municipal transportation and transit projects
Engage stakeholders to develop scenarios that outline choices in transportation
Establish processes to prioritize investments across modes
Inform the public of planned transportation infrastructure improvements
Achieve infrastructure improvement goals of Miami-Dade County
Prioritize the needs of the public based on input gathered.
