On Friday, June 12, at 9 p.m. through Monday, June 15 at 3 a.m., construction work will take place at the SW 296 Street BRT Station. Transit service will continue to operate as scheduled and no service disruptions are anticipated. Riders should allow extra time when traveling through the station and follow posted signs while work is underway. We appreciate your patience as we complete these necessary repairs

Service Overview and Dedicated Corridor

Metro Express is transforming the way we move by offering a more reliable and efficient way to commute. This new, all-electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service will run along a dedicated 20-mile corridor from the SW 344th Street Park-and-Ride in Florida City to Dadeland South Metrorail Station. It connects riders to key destinations including job centers, schools, parks, shopping areas and other transit services.

Designed for efficiency and convenience, Metro Express provides an express south-north travel option with upgraded stations, streamlined boarding, and high-frequency service throughout the day.

Plan your route
Real-time bus arrival displays at each station and the GO Miami-Dade Transit app will help you track your bus to better plan your trip.

Find your station
Look for the 14 sleek, new stations just west of US-1 along the TransitWay, which include access to air-conditioned, shaded waiting areas, 24/7 security, water fountains, and free Wi-Fi.

Where to park and ride
There are currently seven (7) park-and-ride locations that you can use to access Metro Express at the following locations:
- SW 344 Street
- SW 296 Street
- SW 244 Street
- SW 200 Street
- SW 184 Street
- SW 112 Avenue
- SW 152 Street
The eighth park-and-ride station is coming soon and will be located at SW 168th Street, between the TransitWay and SW 97th Avenue. This location is expanding to a multi-level parking garage with 640+ spaces and real-time space tracking. Slated to open between 2026-2027, the garage will feature EV charging stations, ADA accommodations, a Kiss and Ride area, as well as special permit parking spaces.

Better, more efficient service – same price
Fares remain the same for the new Metro Express service.

Pay before you board
Just like riding Metrorail, Metro Express passengers can prepay their fare. Buy a Transit Pass online in the Transit Store, by downloading the GO Miami-Dade Transit app or by purchasing a new 1-Ride QR paper ticket at any of the BRT ticket vending machines located at the front of each station.

Riders can also purchase or reload an EASY Card in the Transit Store or the GO Miami Dade Transit App, Token Transit App, Citymapper, Transit App, or use contactless payments to pay fares. Then, simply tap at the faregate and enjoy the comfort of the air-conditioned waiting area while your Metro Express ride arrives, providing a rail-like experience.
Hop on and go
All-door boarding allows passengers to enter or exit the bus using any door.

All TransitWay stations offer ADA-compliant boarding platforms.

The new BRT stations are iconic
The BRT stations will offer an array of amenities to improve your experience, including real-time bus arrival displays, improved lighting, enhanced security features, access to air-conditioned waiting area, free Wi-Fi, water fountains, and pre-boarding fare collection.

Bike and ride on Metro Express
Bike storage is conveniently available on the bus. Cyclists also have the option of securing and leaving their bikes at each station.

Station upgrades for everyone
Major improvements and refurbished canopies at the existing 32 local bus stops along the TransitWay, including new seating, lighting and security features, are being completed, improving and modernizing the entire length of the corridor.

Metro Express service schedule
Metro Express provides service seven days a week at the 14 BRT Stations, including the two terminus stations, 344 Street Park and Ride and the Dadeland South Metrorail station. Weekday frequency is 7.5 minutes during peak hours in peak directions, 15 minutes off peak, and 30 minutes on weekend.

A reimagined shared-use path
Repaired and widened trails throughout the corridor support access for people walking and biking between stations. Please note cyclists, e-bikes, and other mobility users are NOT allowed on the bus lanes of the TransitWay and are subject to fines. This is also extremely dangerous.

Connections made easy
The TransitWay Local will provide 24-hour service seven days a week and will serve all local stops from SW 344 St Park and Ride to Dadeland South Metrorail Station.

Protected gate arm crossings at all intersections
New, rail-like gate arms are being activated at various roadway intersections along the South Dade TransitWay to enhance safety for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders, and to expedite your ride and get you where you need to go faster. Learn more.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a high-quality bus-based transit system delivering a rail-like experience that is fast and efficient, which includes dedicated lanes, traffic signal preemption and priority, off-board fare collection, elevated platforms with level boarding and enhanced stations.

With a length of 20 miles, the South Dade TransitWay, opening Monday, October 27, 2025, will be the longest battery electric bus rapid transit system in the nation on a dedicated corridor with level boarding, gate arms, and state-of-the-art stations. The TransitWay connects communities from SW 344 Street Park & Ride in Florida City to Dadeland South Metrorail Station, connecting communities to job centers, schools, parks, other transit modes, and shopping centers.
The new BRT service will implement the use of preemption and priority signaling, which gives Metro Express buses quick and safe access across intersections, improving travel times. Metro Express buses will communicate with traffic signals as they approach an intersection, giving them quicker green lights. Once fully operational, the system will result in improved frequency and reduced travel times.
Riders have options to access the station’s paid area prior to boarding the bus. One is to tap directly at the fare gates with an EASY Card, EASY Ticket, valid contactless credit or debit card, or mobile wallet, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. Riders also have the option of purchasing a Single-Ride (1-Ride) QR code paper ticket by using the new BRT ticket vending machines located at the entrance to the stations. Simply scan the QR code at the fare gate to access the paid area.

College students using the College Mobile Pass in the GO Miami-Dade Transit app must show their digital pass to the station guard for visual validation priot to entry. The same requirement applies to riders using Token Transit, Transit App, Moovit, Citymapper, or SoFloGO.

When paying your fare with contactless payment, EASY Card, EASY Ticket, mobile passes, and the new paper QR ticket, transfers are free within the first three (3) hours from the initial tap; after three (3) hours, full fares apply. Please note that QR paper tickets must be used within 15 minutes of purchase.

IMPORTANT: At this time, the BRT ticket vending machines have only one function to dispense a Single-Ride (1-Ride) paper ticket with a QR code that can be scanned at the fare gates to enter the stations. Additional fare products will be available in the future.
Metro Express service is the first of its kind in Miami-Dade and one of the longest, all-electric bus service, with gate-arms and timing signalization, in the nation with 20 miles of dedicated lanes – so full system coordination often takes time to fine-tune.

That’s why there’s always an adjustment period of 90 days after service begins to troubleshoot and improve. Some drivers may experience signal disruptions as signal timing configurations are being adjusted.

Northbound and southbound US-1 routes will have longer green lights. Some delays may occur for cross street traffic at intersections due to signal preemption for BRT dedicated lanes.

Gate arms will descend as physical barriers with visual/audible signals to alert drivers and pedestrians of an approaching bus.
The buses will offer level boarding for easy and quick passenger loading from the platforms. The BRT system will offer:
- All-door boarding, allowing passengers to enter or exit the bus through any door, which speeds up boarding process
- 24-hour security
- Surveillance cameras
- Air-conditioned waiting area
- Improved pedestrian crossings
- On-board bike storage will be available inside the bus. Cyclists also have the option of securing their bikes at the BRT station.
Drivers should remember these safety tips:
- If the gate arm is descending, drivers must come to a complete stop. The gate arms are a visual signal that a bus is approaching the intersection.
- Continue obeying the traffic signals. Failure to do this will result in a citation.
- Proceed through the intersection only after the gate arm is fully raised, and the red or flashing lights are off.
- Drivers should watch for bike/ped users upon approaching the intersection. Pedestrians and cyclists will also use the intersections to cross the street and access the BRT system.
