Park and Recreation Month

July is National Park and Recreation Month, and Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department is celebrating with this year's National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) theme, “Where Community Grows!”

This month is the perfect time to see all that Miami-Dade Parks has to offer, highlighting the vital role park and recreation professionals play in bringing people together, providing essential services and fostering the growth of our communities.

Park and recreation professionals make a positive impact on their community members every single day. Let's come together this year and show the world just how much parks and recreation mean to Miami-Dade County.

About Us

We build memorable experiences and communities through well-designed parks and open spaces that are efficient, accessible, engaging and aesthetically pleasing, guided by our Parks Open Space Master Plan.

We offer year-round park and recreation programs for local children, adults and people with disabilities. Camps are held in the spring and summer during public school breaks. After-school activities are focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, and developing an appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts.

We also maintain the median strips, road shoulders and causeways for County roadways, busways, Metrorail and Metromover.
