Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works announces temporary closure
of Financial District Metromover Station for system upgrades
Miami-Dade County's Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) announces
the temporary closure of the Financial District Metromover Station
<p class="MsoNormal">Miami-Dade County's Department of Transportation and Public Works
(DTPW) announces the temporary closure of the Financial District Metromover Station
beginning Saturday, October 24, 2026, to allow for switch upgrades as part of
the ongoing Metromover Upgrade Project. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">During the approximately five-week closure, Brickell Loop service
will operate with a modified route, with trains beginning and ending their trips at
Brickell Metromover Station. Financial District Station will not be served during
the closure. Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time.
The closure schedule is subject to change. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The improvements are part of the ongoing Metromover Upgrade Project,
a broader effort to modernize the Metromover system, improve service reliability and
operational flexibility, reduce wait times, and extend the system's useful life, providing
a safer and more dependable transit experience for the community. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">DTPW will post closure notices and signage throughout the Metromover
system, and provide service updates through County websites, social media, email notifications
and in-person rider outreach. Riders can also receive updates through the GO Miami-Dade
Transit app or by signing up for <a href="https://www.miamidade.gov/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser149122963708133"
target="_blank" rel="noopener">Transit Alerts</a>. </p>

<p>Beyond public transportation, the department plays a vital role in maintaining
and enhancing the county’s transportation infrastructure. DTPW manages and maintains
all countywide traffic signals, traffic control signs, street signage, pavement markings,
and county- and state-owned street lighting systems to help keep roadways safe and
accessible.</p>
<p>The department’s <a href="https://www.miamidade.gov/global/transportation/public-works/home.page">Public
Works operations</a> also oversee the construction, operation, and maintenance of
movable and fixed bridges, roadway repairs, swales, guardrails, and county road rights-of-way.
In addition, DTPW operates and maintains the iconic<a href="https://www.miamidade.gov/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser1684342734896148">
Rickenbacker and Venetian causeways</a>, ensuring safe and seamless travel for residents
and visitors alike.</p>
<p>The department is also committed to protecting the community and environment through
management of the <a href="https://www.miamidade.gov/global/transportation/public-works/stormwater-utility.page">County
Stormwater Utility</a>, supporting flood prevention efforts, water quality protection,
and maintenance of the secondary canal system.</p>
<p>To support responsible development and public safety, DTPW’s <a href="https://www.miamidade.gov/global/transportation/public-works/home.page">Public
Works team</a> manages permitting for all work within County rights-of-way and enforces
compliance for unpermitted work.</p>
