SiBike

Miami-Dade County is testing SiBike - a new smartphone-based bike detection system and the cycling community is invited to participate.

The first location equipped with SiBike connectivity has been installed at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and 11 Street in Miami Beach. This location is being used as a test site for this new technology.

Fill out a quick two-question survey about SiBike and submit your feedback once you’ve tested the site through a short seven-question survey.

The SiBike USA app knows where a bike rider is. As a result, the app interacts with the programmed traffic signal controller which will detect the rider approaching the intersection. Once detection is confirmed, the signal controller can facilitate a green light to the bicyclist as soon as safely possible.

Benefits of bicycle detection

  • Improves efficiency and reduces delay for bicycle
  • Increases convenience and safety of bicycling
  • Discourages red light running by bicyclists without causing excessive delay to motorists
  • Can be used to prolong the green phase to provide adequate time for bicyclists to clear the intersection

To participate

Download the FREE SiBike USA app from the App Store or Google Play, log in and activate the app next time you go biking in Miami Beach and ride through Euclid Avenue and 11 Street.

Submit your feedback once you’ve tested the site through a short seven-question survey.

Miami-Dade County will collect usage data and survey results. The information collected will help determine if this new bike detection technology is implemented at additional locations in the County.
