We're improving our Better Bus Network
In November 2023, we rolled out the Better Bus Network, the first redesign of our bus route network in 40 years, to offer better service to our residents by increasing reliability and frequency. Since the network launched, we have seen significant ridership increase for some major routes, and in general, more riders are taking Metrobus throughout the entire new network seven days a week. Read more about ridership increases and benefits.
Additionally, we have been listening closely to your feedback and are implementing a number of improvements to build upon the network to make it more convenient for our riders.
On Monday, April 29, we began increasing frequency, adding connections, updating running times, and adjusting some routes to provide more service for more people with more frequency. Learn more about the specific adjustments.
Additional adjustments will be implemented this year to continue improving service.
Connecting Services
- MetroLink: A new transportation mode called MetroLink will launch in June to offer a shuttle service using smaller vehicles to connect riders in hard-to-reach areas to their closest bus stop or Metrorail station. This new fixed route mobility solution is expected to address a service concern in Miami Beach, among other areas.
- MetroConnect: We have expanded the service zones for MetroConnect, a free, on-demand, shared ride service that provides support for some riders where needed for last-mile connections. With a few taps on the MetroConnect app, riders can book a free trip to their destination. MetroConnect meets riders wherever they are as long as the pick-up location and destination are within the service zone. In some cases, riders will be paired with others headed in the same direction.
- Uber Voucher Program: This temporary program provides an option for Metrobus riders to book a trip through the on-demand, ride-share Uber service within certain areas along former routes that were adjusted. Riders can request a voucher worth up to $25 by using the Uber app or calling 786-469-5555 during the bus route’s service hours. The pick-up location and destination must be within the coverage zone. Learn more about the Uber Voucher program.
