Advertising Guidelines

It is the policy of the Office of the Mayor that advertising for County departments is administered by the Communications and Customer Experience Department (CCED). This ensures that advertising dollars are leveraged optimally through volume media buys. Departments may not buy advertising directly unless they are among those that are exempt.

CCED is responsible for ensuring that the County effectively and efficiently communicates with residents through the responsible use of appropriate media and that all promotional, legal notices and classified print advertising indicate that Miami-Dade County is the advertiser. The Department will administer media advertising negotiation and placement for all County departments.

The Community Periodicals Program (CPP) is part of Miami-Dade County government’s multi-layered approach to communicating with all segments of our diverse population. The more than 40 newspapers that participate in the program have smaller circulations that provide relevant news and information to readers in specific neighborhoods. These periodicals offer content in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, free of charge.

All public notices and advertisements required by Federal and State Statutes or County Code are required to be placed on the Miami-Dade web portal prior to, or simultaneously to, being published in (newspaper) print in accordance with Resolution R-1381-09..

Multi-channel advertising and engagement services includes media research, strategy, buying and placement, as well as campaign management for both paid and unpaid promotions.

This type of advertising promotes special events, programs, services and initiatives. Campaigns and messaging may be driven by Board resolution or at the request of a department. To initiate a campaign, complete a project intake form and a member of the team will respond.
