Reduce the cost of transportation, both in money and time
Be a global leader in transportation innovation
Use data for values-based planning and program decisions
Proactively plan streets, land uses, and utility improvements together
Implement a management structure, staff and workforce to deliver the transportation vision
Leverage strategic resources and partners to amplify the effects of projects
Make transit easier, more efficient and appealing to use
Implement the use of connected telematics systems on fleet buses by 2024
Reduce travel time by upgrading and connecting 3,000 traffic signals by 2026
Increase the availability of real-time transit data for the public through an open-data portal
The following are actions with specific projects that are already being implemented and have a specific timeline. Future projects will be added under this pillar.
Improve the Metromover service
Development of a Transportation Demand Management program by 2025
Develop and publish a modal hierarchy framework and policy by June 2023
Leverage transit data to drive strategic decisions
Expedite transit operations
Ensure all planned and funded capital projects are expending 90% of their budget in accordance with their project delivery timeline
Modernize DTPW’s paratransit service to provide reliable, accessible and affordable transit service
Implement fare collection equipment to streamline user payment and enhance the Metrobus and Metrorail rider experience
